Local Justice Banja Luka: Tanasic and Boroja Sentenced

According to the verdict, Tanasic and Boroja came to the house of Nazifa Somic in the Banja Luka neighborhood of Obilic on September 19, 1995 and they tried to kill her son Muharem. They beat Muharem in the Vrabanja neighborhood and left him for dead.They took Nazifa Somic to an unknown direction and she was later discovered dead in the Vrbas River in Tijesno near Banja Luka.The Republika Srpska Supreme Court came to this verdict after quashing the first instance verdict of the Banja Luka District Court and ordering a retrial.The Banja Luka District court had also sentenced Tanasic and Boroja to three-and-a-half years in prison each for the attempted murder of Muharem Somic, but they were freed of charges connected to the forced disappearance of Nazifa Somic.
